Hello to all racers,

I can finally announce the 5th Slotdragster Winternationals in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Oct. 30th - Nov. 1st 2009!

More updates and info will follow soon, not too many changes to be expected from last year - we should have a new large LED-timer so everyone can see how much time he/she has left to stage the car and will also reduce all classes except PR and PS (32 cars after qualifying) to 16 car elim. fields because of the tight schedule at the EXPO, meaning that only the top 16 cars AFTER qualifying will get to race in the final elims.

Qualifying will again be held on both, Friday and Saturday, and elims on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Please let me know about your accomodation needs asap,

thanks and see you there,
Kescha, Alex & crew

Sponsors are on board for the Winternats - Pro Slot, JDS, WRP, Pro Track and also Precision Slotcars (great jigs and tools for building chassis and cars!) are to be thanked for sending race prizes and supporting the cause!

The new staging clock has also arrived (thanks to Alex for footing the bill!) and will be a welcome addition.

The entry fee will be €25 this year and a reduced €15 for all youngsters 16 and under. This includes the entrance to the model expo.

We will be located in Hall A7 this time, a new building just a bit farther down on the same side as our previous home A5.

Hope to see you all and also some new faces soon,
feel free to ask any questions,
Kescha Platonow

See you in Friedrichshafen

Thanks to Osku & Steve for their nice comments, as well as to the sponsors for their support!
Here are the results of the race, more details & photos will follow soon:

PR:
Thomas Schäfer from Switzerland finally broke through and beat all challengers including Kescha in the final round, Alex Mahl finished third.

PS:
Thomas set and reset the track record several times, with Alex in hot pursuit.
Alex had the last laugh, though, first beating Thomas in the semis with a new speed record (45.74mph), and then stealing the e.t. record on a single in the final round - 0.946 it is. Alex 1st and 2nd, Thomas 3rd.

SS:
A few new contenders, a bunch of new cars, both conventional bodied and of the nostalgia dragster variety and a new e.t. record of 0.885 by Kescha.
Also, a few upsets and a new face in the winners circle - Daniel Singer from Switzerland beat me for the title, running really well and consistent.
Alex finished 3rd.

Gp12:
No new records here, but close racing throughout and finally a win for Alex after so many runner up finishes in this category. Thomas could not match his performance from last year, but finished 2nd after some parts breakage in the final round, Kescha lost in both semis.

TF:
The first runs in qualifying were also the quickest - Kescha set (and backed up) a new e.t. record with a 0.765 that remained unchallenged on Sunday, although Peter, Thomas and Alex all ran in the 0.7s (several of them side by side). With some luck along the way, Kescha managed to repeat his 1 - 2 finish from 2008, this time followed by Peter Kouba in 3rd place.

Gp20:
No new records this time, but a slew of sub 0.8 second runs from Alex, Peter, Kescha, and Kurt Fink.
The semis and finals were a Peter and Kescha show - with alternating results: Peter prevailed in the one that counted most, Kescha finished 2nd and 3rd.

Gp7:
Nothing earth-shattering here, but a lot of clean runs in qualifying, followed by unexpected traction problems for some in eliminations just a few minutes later.
Peter and Thomas set new personal bests, but consistency once again won the race for Kescha, with Thomas and Peter in 2nd and 3rd.

Alexander and Marcel worked hard to finish their cars in time for the race and also provided the fireworks with their rebuilt and/or newly built rocket funny cars.

Alex had the first perfect RT in his first PS semifinal, Daniel Singer had the best engineered car (his class-winning S16D Slingshot), Peter´s Brutus FC was voted the best Lexan bodied car and Alex´Novacaine the best hardbodied vehicle.

Though a few familiar faces were missing this time, we had several very enthusiastic rookies from Switzerland and Austria and should be in the same place again for the 6th time next year.

Thanks to all participants, sponsors and the expo crew,
Kescha

Hi Steve - me, too!!!

I just got the pics in the mail today (Jürg was the photog this year) and guess what I´m doing now?

I´ve been working on the photos and the website all day and will upload the pages within the next hour or two.

How´s your track coming along?

Cheers,
Kescha

Great pics thanks for sharing, like Osku I am dissapointed I couldn't make it.

Track is making slow progress, over one of the next couple of weekends I hope to cut the slots. Not looking forward to doing this though as it MUST be right, no room for error!!!

Cheers

Hi Osku,

we missed you here, as well!
Don´t know about a sponsor, but you really shouldn´t consider letting anyone build your cars - it would be a downgrade in quality for sure.

Just do like I do - build only one or two new cars per year (for yourself - the more you build for others, the better) and take care of your old ones.

I am using basically the same stuff for the last three years, only a few little upgrades, but still the same (but zapped/trued/freshened up) motors and even tires. And I keep going faster, too.

How is your series going - is the new track up and running?

Cheers,
Kescha
